SINGAPORE, 15 October 2024 –

Asia’s leading Environmental, Social, and Governance (‘ESG’) data and technology solutions company, ESGpedia Pte Ltd (‘ESGpedia’), has announced its partnership with the UN Global Compact Network Singapore (‘GCNS’) for the technology implementation of the Digital Carbon and Emissions Recording Tool (‘CERT’). The Digital CERT Tool aims to empower businesses in Singapore to streamline carbon emissions tracking and reporting, and is part of the LowCarbonSG Programme by GCNS.

Through ESGpedia, Singaporean businesses now have access to a complimentary digitalised carbon emissions tracker, which gives them the opportunity to attain a LowCarbonSG Participant Logo upon successful measurement and monitoring of their carbon footprint.

The latest launch of the Digital CERT Tool on ESGpedia marks a significant evolution from its original form, launched earlier in 2021, by Ms. Grace Fu, Singapore’s Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, as a centerpiece initiative of the LowCarbonSG program. The earlier tool saw widespread adoption, with approximately 200 companies submitting their data through CERT, and over 50% reporting at least a 5% reduction in emissions in the second year.

To drive greater impact and adoption, GCNS partnered with ESGpedia to transform CERT into a fully digital, streamlined tool on the ESGpedia platform.

The new Digital CERT Tool hosted on ESGpedia provides businesses with a more user-friendly interface and expanded accessibility, offering web-based accessibility, global compliance, seamless integration, faster data submissions, and improved user experience.

The ESGpedia platform is validated under ISO14064-1 and is built in accordance with the GHG Protocol. This ensures that companies using the Digital CERT Tool are calculating emissions credibly and in accordance with international standards.

Benjamin Soh, Founder and Managing Director at ESGpedia, said: “Our partnership with the UN Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS) to power the Digital CERT Tool through ESGpedia signifies our collective commitment to levelling the playing field to enable businesses, large and small, to remain competitive and thrive amidst rising ESG regulations. With ESGpedia today powering key programs across the region to close data and disclosure gaps, our latest partnership with GCNS takes it one step further in streamlining carbon emissions tracking and reporting for Singaporean businesses.”

With evolving consumer and regulatory demand, the partnership between ESGpedia and GCNS underscores the commitment to helping companies not only calculate and track emissions, but actively reduce them.
